Pelo

Where is Pelo: Pelo is located in the heart of the Okavango Delta.  Literally, as Pelo means ‘heart’ in Setswana as the camp is situated on a heart shaped island in a remote part of the Okavango Delta.  Generally Pelo is surrounded by water and it is a water based camp, but some years when the flood waters are low land activities can be done as the water recedes.  We highly recommend doing a water based camp in the Okavango Delta as activities focus on mokoro and boating excursions in the shallow floodplains.  Guided walks are done with a professional guide.   Pelo is an adventurers camp with all the creature comforts one would expect, spacious tented rooms with a basic bathroom and an outdoor shower.  With only 5 rooms and boasting one of the Okavango Deltas best areas, the luxury and appeal of Pelo is its wide open spaces and exclusivity.

Accommodation: The main area has a tented dining area and lounge overlooking the lagoon in front.  The Jackalberry and Natal mahogany trees offer shade an ambience and one can enjoy the raised viewing platform which is built on an old anthill. This camp’s five spacious tents look out over the surrounding water and have small decks out front to relax and read a book whilst soaking up Africa.

Activities: Bird Watching, Boating, Catch-and-release Fishing, Mokoro Excursion, Walks (Guided)
