Switch out game drive vehicles for tender boats that will get you up close to wildlife as they come to drink from the cool waters.  Boating safaris are perfect for photography opportunities or to catch the famous Tigerfish, one of the world’s best freshwater fighting fish.  With ever changing views and fresh air, the sounds of Africa will start to take over as you settle into your pristine environment.  Large numbers of species of birdlife thrive near these waters, mini ecosystems fill each bay and hippos and crocodiles cruise the channels. Enjoy game drives by boat or simply enjoy the 360 degree view from the top deck.  The mighty Zambezi River is one of the oldest rivers on the African continent.  It passes through some of Africa’s best wildlife zones and national parks and it is a haven for wildlife and birdlife and boasts some of Africa’s best fishing.  It is also home to a number of Houseboat and boating safari operators throughout the Chobe River in Botswana and Zambezi River in Zimbabwe who offer a chance to do a water based safari.  We were fortunate enough to grow up on the incredible Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe so houseboats are something we are very passionate about.   Houseboat safaris are generally seasonal and a better experience during the dry season.
